Westerner
Athletic Competition
The
purpose of the Westerner athletic program is for athletes,
coaches, administrators, faculty, and student body
to meet the challenge and adventure of competitive
sports with other schools in Texas. Whether as an
a player or loyal supporter, Lubbock High Westerners
take an active interest in the Westerner athletic
program.
The
athletic program at Lubbock High School is essential
to the development of the student's interest and satisfaction
to his physical and competitive needs. Lubbock High
competes in the following Texas University Interscholastic
League events: football, basketball, baseball, cross
country, softball, track, tennis, golf, volleyball,
swimming, wrestling, and soccer along with the non-League
sport of gymnastics.
The
name Westerner is adopted by every loyal student in
Lubbock High and is particularly applied to those
first teams which represent the school in interscholastic
athletic contests. Loyal Lubbock Westerners also actively
support all LHS sports activities.
