Eligibility
Rules for participation in School activities
All
students representing Lubbock High School in University
Interscholastic League contests, as well as any other
extracurricular activities, must meet the eligibility
rules in the "Constitution and Rules" of
the Interscholastic League along with all state and
local school board policies concerning eligibility.
This applies to all on or off campus activities and
out-of-town events.
A
student whose average in any course falls below 70
at the end of a six weeks grading period will be ineligible
during the next six weeks period but may regain eligibility
at the end of the next three weeks if all grades in
all classes are passing. Students may continue to
practice with the team during the ineligible period,
which begins one week following the end of the six
weeks period. Students will receive a progress report
in the middle of each six weeks period if their average
is below 75 so they can work harder to avoid losing
their eligibility.
Another
eligibility rule states that incoming sophomores must
have earned at least 5 credits, juniors must have
earned at least 10 credits, and seniors must have
earned at least 15 credits to be eligible during the
first six weeks period of the year. Students who do
not meet these credit requirements but do pass five
(5) subjects during the spring semester will be eligible
during the first six weeks of the fall semester. The
five (5) credits must be State approved for graduation.
Local credit will not count in this case. Be sure
to keep up with the number of credits earned each
year to avoid losing eligibility under this rule.
Students will be asked to present grades to their
sponsor or coach prior to missing a class.
