Advanced Technology Center

The Byron Martin Advanced Technology Center is an off-campus facility that offers technical classes in Computer Technology and industry-specific career training. The ATC is located at 34th and Avenue Q, across the street from O.L.Slaton Junior High School. Any student may schedule a class at the ATC. Students may drive to their ATC class, but bus transportation is also provided.

Students desiring to schedule classes at the ATC should see Mrs. Silvas, Career Counselor.

The classes offered at the ATC are:

Pre-employment labs:
Automotive Technology, Building Trades,  Metal Trades, Electrical Apprenticeship, and Trade and Industrial Career Prep. These classes are two or three credits and meet every day.
Computer Technology classes
Digital Graphics and Animation, Multimedia, Desktop Publishing, Networking, 3D Computer Graphics, Computer Technology and Video Technology.

Attendance is extremely important for classes at the ATC. Because of the technical nature of these courses, work missed because of absences cannot be made up. Students who miss an ATC class more than three times may be dropped from that class.

At certain times during the year (the first day of each semester, TAKS days, final exam days, etc.) a modified schedule will be run at Lubbock High School, making it impossible for students to attend their class at the ATC. On those days, all ATC students will come to the Career Center at Lubbock High, sign an attendance sheet, and be dismissed. Students are not allowed in the hallways but should exit the building and remain outside or report to the cafeteria until the next bell. All students must sign in at the Career Center on those days. Students who do not sign in will be counted absent.

Students who miss their class at the ATC because of car trouble, missing the bus, or other extenuating circumstances should report directly to Mrs. Silvas.
